It is also important to press the button halfway to fixed-focus the lens before a shot. At times, the lens is aimed but not focused so if you have done the shot, it will appear blurred.

When I was in college, I had my Engineering Drawing subject where we were taught how to draw side views, front view, back view, top view, isometric, etc. In the same manner, knowing where you stand from your subject will definitely be a factor to a good picture. And as the saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one could only unfold the beauty of a subject on a specified good angle the shot is taken

Who taught the first teacher? You could keep asking that when you are at a loss comparing yourself against the best out there. Some people started out late in choosing their path but still managed to make the best of it. The idea about the first teacher is that the first who did it discovered things for himself. Then photography schools and institutes were founded to teach what those pioneers learned from experience. Unfortunately I wasn’t from those schools so I’m sorry to say that I lack the credentials to teach photography by the curriculum. But I shared what I’ve got from my own experience and in my own school, I bless you with the certificate of patience to get your shots right. So pick up the camera and start capturing images. The only permanent things in life are the changes. But capturing each changing scene could freeze up a frame and time stops there. You have technology’s power in your fingertips. Good luck.

How a Digital Camera Works

A digital camera is a camera device that, instead of capturing and storing pictures on photographic film like conventional cameras, captures the image using an electronic sensor and stores in digital memory.

Modern digital cameras are generally multifunctional and incorporate some devices capable of recording sound and / or video in addition to photographs. As such, the device is referred to as digital camcorder.

The first real digital camera which recorded images on a pc file was the model Fuji DS-1P in 1988, it recorded on a card of 16 MB of internal memory and made use of a battery to keep data in memory. This camera was never put on sale in the U.S. The first digital camera available in the market was the Dycam Model 1, in 1991, which was also sold under the name of photometric Logitech. It employed a CCD sensor, digitally recorded images, and had a cable for direct download on the computer.

In 1991, Kodak introduced its DCS-100, the first in a long line of professional SLR cameras by Kodak that were based, in part, on film cameras, Nikon.

The transition to digital formats was helped by the formation of the first JPEG and MPEG standards in 1988, which allowed the image and video files which were compressed for storage. The first camera aimed at consumers with an LCD screen on the back was the Casio QV-10 in 1995 and the first camera to use CompactFlash memory cards was the Kodak DC-25 in 1996.

Connectivity

Most digital cameras can be connected directly to the computer to transfer your information. Formerly the cameras had to connect through a serial port. USB is the preferred method but some cameras use a FireWire port or Bluetooth. The majority of cameras are recognized as a USB storage device. Some models, such as the Kodak EasyShare One can connect to the computer via wireless network protocol for 802.11 (Wi-Fi).

A common alternative is to use a card reader that may be able to read various types of storage media and transfer data to the computer at high speed.

An external card reader allows direct access to appropriate images in a collection of storage media, but it only works with a storage card. Many modern cameras offer the PictBridge standard that allows data to be sent directly to printers without the need for a computer.

Integration

Current technology allows the inclusion of digital cameras in various everyday devices such as cell phones. Some small electronic devices (particularly those used for communication) which include PDAs, laptops and Blackberries usually contain integrated digital cameras.

Some digital camcorders incorporate a digital camera. Due to limited storage capacity and utility of the emphasis on the quality of these integrated devices and the majority JPEG format to store images for their great ability to compensate for the small compression quality loss it causes.

Storage

Digital cameras and cell phones also use cheap memory or flash memory. They are commonly used memory cards: CompactFlash (CF), Secure Digital (SD), xD and Memory Stick cards for Sony cameras.

The photos are stored in standard JPEG or TIFF or RAW format to get a better picture quality despite the large increase in file size. Video files are commonly stored in AVI, DV, MPEG, MOV, WMV, etc.

Almost all digital cameras use compression techniques to maximize storage space. Compression techniques often take advantage of two common features in the photographs:

Self-contained

A standalone device such as a PictBridge printer, operates without a computer. The camera links up to the printer, which in turn downloads and prints the images. Some DVD recorders and TVs are capable of reading memory cards. While various types of flash card readers also have an output capability of a television set.
