Home security became a worry when I moved out of my parent’s house. I would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night because our pet dog, Sassie (which was a cute lhasa apso), would bark at something (or someone) . I became more paranoid when our neighbor went on vacation for a few days. I was anxious since I know no one would hear me in case I scream for help if anything happens.
Tuning on the news was even a bad idea. Day in and day out, I would hear stories about home invasion and how the family was either robbed or murdered. As a single mom, I worry for my kids. I had to turn down an opportunity to travel in Europe for work because I didn’t want to leave them alone with their nanny. I also missed my brother’s wedding because no one would want to stay behind and look after the house.
The news about a home invasion within our neighborhood shocked me. The Smiths were cruelly murdered and most of their belongings were taken by the attackers. The local police wasn’t able to catch the attacker. It made me more anxious since the attack happened just a couple of blocks away.
I contemplated on buying a gun to protect my family that weekend. However, I’m concerned about the dangers of having a gun inside our home. My 4 kids might panic or might have a different reaction towards me buying a gun. I value our safety. Having a gun and kids at home just didn’t seem right.
I had to do something about my fears . I can’t just stay up all night and be afraid of what might happen. Sure there is 911, but I just can’t sit around and wait for it to happen. I thought about getting help from home security systems in texas. After checking their products and services, I decided to have contact and motion sensors be installed in our home. I can now peacefully sleep at night without having to wake up during wee hours in the morning to do a random door and window locks check. I believe my kids and I are now safer with the home security system now in place.
