Want to Install a Security Camera? Here’s How

Many people rely on security video cameras to increase protection in their home to protect their whole family and property. Cameras are out anywhere and you could spot one shop where to buy it. There is no need to have an expert to install a security camera, too. Actually, you can install it at home by yourself in only a few minutes. Here are the basic steps on how to install a security camera for your home.

1. Check all the contents of the camera if they are all present before you install it. It should have an RCA video cable, an AC power adapter of pack of batteries and a manual instruction to help you more on how to install and fix cameras. Some accessories are included but depends on the camera if it’s a hardwired or wireless. If it’s a wired camera, measure the length of the RCA cable to see if it will reach the recorder or monitor for connection. If the camera is wireless, install the batteries or battery pack.

2. Locate the specific area where you want to mount the camera. Select the area or areas you want to install your camera especially if you want to mount more than one. You have the option to install one camera outside your house. Check the desired area where your camera is protected against weather. There are some cameras that have motion sensor. This will give a greater chance of detecting any movement. So, when you install a camera with motion sensor for the outdoor, the area should be away from trees and bushes that will not trigger the camera. One more thing is to decide the best angle and how high the camera is.

3. Prepare the mounting bracket. Camera cannot be installed without this. Hold the mounting bracket in the area you selected with one hand and mark the screw holes using a pencil with the other hand. And if necessary, drill pilot holes. If the holes will be situated in a stud, make sure to have a stud finder. Or else you will be using a drywall anchor bolt. It’s better to use a drill which is slightly smaller than the screw you will use in mounting the bracket. Insert the screws into the holes or to the drywall anchor bolt.

4. Place the security camera or cameras onto the mounting bracket
. Attach the camera in a tightly secured position. When your camera is a wired one, connect both the camera and the monitor based on the given direction from the manufacturer. Plug the wired camera into the outlet and if there is a need to adjust the picture, do it for best reception. Set up the receiver to the monitor or computer for both wired and wireless camera.

5. Test if the camera works properly. Some cameras have software to be downloaded. Once you finished installed the software and everything seems to be all set, go around the area to see if the camera gives an alarm.

Installing a security camera doesn’t require an intensive work. What you only need to do is to find the best camera you will mount in your house. This means that the camera you are using should have reliable features and great accessories.

An Inexpensive Wireless Home Security Solution

When one house near our place experienced a terrible robbery, all the families in our neighborhood, including us, have been more cautious about burglars. My husband works nights, so I am home alone most nights of the week with our two small children. So we decided we needed to have some sort of security system that would alert us if someone tried to break in our home.

My husband bought the Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System shortly after the burglary in our neighborhood. We all felt a big sense of relief when we started using an alarm system.

The wireless alarm system we own came as a complete package including highly effective sensors, a control panel and an emergency dialer. It was a snap for my husband to install the system’s components. The SC-1000 alarm system uses hassle-free wireless connections to provide maximum security against intruders. This security system has Dial Alert, an Alarm Detector Sensor and a Flood Sensor. This alarm can detect not only burglars, but fire, flood or other potential emergencies, too.

Skylink was the first company to manufacture security systems featuring rolling-code technology. This technology provides extremely reliable protection while limiting the number of false alarms. Also, the control panel of the SC-1000 recognizes radio waves from its remote sensors. The remote sensors include door and window sensors, a motion sensor as well as keychain transmitter.

With its 110dB siren, any sensors triggered by this alarm system create a loud, sharp sound. Once set off, the sensors directly send a wireless signal to the system’s emergency dialer. An emergency call can be made automatically with this alarm system. The emergency dialer has the capability to call up to nine different phone numbers which include a cellular phone and a pager. You can even record an emergency message for up to 40 seconds.

I was especially impressed with this system’s lighted keypad. It’s easy to dial the keypad of this alarm system even in the dark. A low-battery indicator and the lighted keypad make this alarm system very easy to operate.

We saved money on the low cost price of this alarm system, and we save even more by not having to pay monitoring service fees. With the Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System, you don’t need the services of an alarm company to alert the police or other emergency response teams if your alarm goes off.

Since we’ve installed this wireless home security system, I can sleep easy at night knowing my young children and I are safe even if my husband isn’t home at night. My husband can also concentrate on his work without worrying about us at night. The peace of mind we now enjoy is well worth the small price we paid for a quality security system.

A Digital Surveillance Camera Vs Analog

As we leave the days of analog systems behind us, it can only be expected that we experience an explosive growth in digital surveillance cameras and systems.

Digital surveillance cameras play a very similar role to their analog counterparts that have been around since the sixties. Mounted in strategic locations, they enable the owner to monitor areas that are otherwise vulnerable in a home or business.

Their digital nature, however, makes many things possible that analog cameras never could do. Digital security cameras and digital security camera systems offer perhaps the most powerful combination of abilities available in any type of home or business security system.

How it works

By installing a video capture card in your PC, you turn your computer into an advance digital video recording system, otherwise known as a DVR. This enables you to record super-high quality digital video direct to the hard drive of your computer. The video output from your digital CCTV camera is referred to as a digitized recording that gives you an impressive array of features and benefits.

Benefits of a Digital Surveillance Camera

The ability to view recorded or live video from a remote computer or 3G mobile phone anywhere in the world is perhaps one of the most popular benefits. Once your system is set-up, all you need to do is log in to your system and view what’s going on. How about checking on your home when you are away on business or vacation?

Another powerful feature of your digital CCTV system is the ability to easily search your recorded video feed. Rather than rewinding and fast forwarding through videotape to find the time or event you want to view, you can navigate right to that point in the recording.

You can even program your digital security camera to focus specifically on some situations that it sees and ignore others. For example, you can program it to stop recording when nothing is moving in its field of vision, or record with reduced resolution. You can program it to notice and send you an email or phone notification if something that is supposed to be there is missing, or notify you if it detects something that isn’t supposed to be there.

With multi-camera systems, you can even program your digital security cameras so that one camera alerts another camera to pan over to its area for another view of some unusual activity that the first one has detected. And you can also control all these actions of your cameras manually, in real time, while viewing the video feed from your computer, as well.

Disadvantages of a Digital Surveillance Camera

Digital CCTV systems, however, are not totally without drawback. The files generated by computer security cameras can fill up hard drive space quickly. That, however, is where you’ll find the ability to program your cameras to stop recording in certain situations comes in handy. By avoiding recording the vast majority of time, when nothing worth recording is happening, you’ll find that you save a tremendous amount of disk space.

Is a digital security camera right for you?

A digital surveillance camera certainly offer you powerful features and unparalleled flexibility when compared to a analog camera.  And they offer these things with the convenience of being able to monitor your digital cameras from anywhere in the world. If you’re looking for a truly professional-grade system to protect your property and possessions, a digital surveillance camera system is definitely one to consider.

Is a Fake Security Camera a Deterrent?

There are varying types of fake surveillance cameras on the market that are considerably cheaper than there real counterparts. However, is a fake security camera any use or are they just a waste of money? Hopefully this article will help you to decide…

Dummy Security Cameras – Do They Really Work? by Terry Edwards : Have you been considering buying a dummy security camera for your home or business? Are you unsure whether or not these cameras really work? Well, here is some good information that will help make your decision a little easier.

Just like their regular counterparts, dummy security cameras can be of high quality and very realistic, or they can be of poor quality and look so bad that even a dummy would know the difference.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Even with that being the case, a top notch dummy camera is much less than a real model. The bigger question is, do they work?

For the serious criminal who is determined to steal or destroy property, the answer is no. For this type of thug, no form of security camera or surveillance is going to stop them. In fact, it sometimes seems that these individuals want to be seen on video.

While a dummy camera won’t deter these types, it also won’t monitor their activity either, meaning you won’t even get a look at who they are.

Keep this in mind if you own a business and theft is a big issue. Trying to protect high value inventory with a dummy monitor really isn’t the best solution. It’s the same for the homeowner who has lots of expensive valuables in the home.

So, who are these cameras for then? They will protect your home or business from petty criminals, or small-time thieves who look for an easy opportunity. When these types of people look around and see a camera they take off. So, in this type of situation a dummy security camera will be ideal.

It really comes down to what your needs are. Why do you need a camera? How safe and secure do you feel you need to be?

Once you determine your needs, making a decision will become easy.
