Protect your home with a driveway alarm system

If you wish to scare off a possible intruder, never miss a package delivery, or always be aware if someone is on your property, you should invest in a driveway alarm system. There are many styles to choose from, with each one offering you a modern way to keep up with what is going on around your home.

Driveway alarm systems use motion detection technology and will send a signal to a receiver in your home when someone walks on your driveway or walkway. Most models will allow you to talk through the receiver, which carries your voice through the transmitter. If an intruder is attempting to survey your home, your voice is normally all that is needed to persuade them to run away. Driveway alarm systems can be used in a variety of ways such as alerting you if cars are coming up the driveway, someone enters your tool shed, intruders are in the front or backyard, or even if someone enters your garage. Driveway alarm systems can be standalone or integrated into your existing home alarm system.

You can buy wireless, wired or handheld models, which have varying detection ranges, from 100 feet for small driveways to 2 miles or more for larger driveways. Some alarms will warn you of visitors with sounds, while other systems use prerecorded messages. More advanced models will come with multiple transmitters that allow you to place several sensor alarms along walkways, your driveway and other places around your property.

When you install your alarm system, you should always place the sensor in an area where it isn’t easy to spot. Although most driveway alarms are weatherproof, they should still be installed in a somewhat protective area. You will also want to make sure that the sensor is in a location where tree branches will not be blown by the wind into the detection zone.

Depending on how much you are willing to spend, the systems available will vary. Standard wireless driveway alarms can cost less than 100 dollars and are suitable for suburban areas as they are easy to install and have adequate range for detection. If you live on a large property, own a business or want more sophisticated features, you will have to spend more to find a driveway alarm that meets your needs. More advanced models have continuous or strobe lights, sirens or even a phone dialer that will automatically dial the police. Always ask yourself what transmission distance you require, what the overall function of the alarm will be, and how many features you feel are necessary.

Knowing when someone is approaching is the first step towards protecting your family and property. Coupled with your home alarm system, driveway alarms are an excellent way to add more security to your home and give you and your loved ones daily peace of mind.

Selecting A Home Security Alarm For Your House

You are really never going to be able to feel safe until you have a proper, working home security alarm in your house. Especially if you have children, of course you need to make sure that they are safe and with all the crime that is taking place all around the world lately, it obviously only makes sense that you would want to have proper home security alarm monitoring in your house.

Now it is up to you to decide on what home security alarm you are going to want to get, and there are quite a few different options that you have to choose from.

Wired or Not?

To decide on the right home security alarm for your house, there are a few decisions that you are going to have to make, the first being on whether you would like your home alarm to be wired or not. This has not only benefits but also ill effects. Wireless alarms are obviously much easier to install, but then you have to worry that the batteries are going to run out.

The wired alarms are not efficient when the power is cut. The wireless alarms are definitely more popular these days, but different people have different reasons and so you just want to make sure that you are going to choose the type that you want and which you find more comfortable for your home.

Brand

Also for your home security alarm you are going to need to think about whether you have a specific brand that you would like to stick with or not. This is important because there are a few top of the line brands that you know you are going to be getting a high quality house alarm from, whereas if you were to choose a lesser known brand, you are really putting your safety on the line.

It is not difficult to install it?

Another decision that you are going to have to make when it comes to a home security alarm is whether you are going to be installing it yourself or you are going to call in a professional company to do it for you. This depends on a person and how much comfortable he is with this type of task.

With the wired versions, it is really best to get someone who knows what they are doing to install it for you.

Wireless Alarms For Your Driveway

Those of you who want to protect your home from possible annoyances and intrusions, never miss out on a home delivery, or always be aware of someone coming up your driveway – should invest in a wireless driveway alarm.  There are a variety of different styles, with each one offering you a truly unique and innovative way to keep up with what’s going on around your property.

You can get either wireless or handheld models, which vary in detection ranges, from the average 1,000 feet for small driveways to the larger driveways which span 2 miles or more.  Some models will warn you of visitors with tones, while others use prerecorded messages.  The more advanced models on the other hand, well you communicate with visitors through the use of an intercom system, which you install at the end of your driveway.

All types of wireless driveway alarms feature a receiver and a transmitter.Normally an infrared equipment notifies you through the receiver about any presence detected in your driveway.  Most models will allow you to speak through the receiver, transmitting your voice through the transmitter.  If a solicitor or burglary is trying to visit your home, your voice is normally all it takes to turn them around in the other direction.

Even though the technical name is “wireless driveway alarm”, there are several uses for this technology.  You can install the equipment in your yard, out of plain view, or even use the system as an intercom for anyone who pulls up to your gate.  You can also install the system on your roof, or just use it strategically around your property.  There are several uses for wireless systems, although the intention is to alert you when there is any type of human presence or movement on your property.

When you set up your wireless driveway system, you should always place it somewhere where it isn’t easy to see.  You don’t want someone who visits your property to have plain view of your equipment, as it can easily give you away.  Instead, you want to make sure that you are alert of any visitors, yet they aren’t aware that you are using any type of alarms.

Depending on how much money you have to spend, the systems that you can choose from will vary.  There are simple wireless driveway alarms out there, yet there are also systems that can do just about anything you want.  If you live in a suburban area, you may want to go with a standard wireless alarm.  Standard alarms are best for this type of neighborhood, as they are easy to install and will immediately alert you whenever there is presence on your property.  Another great thing about these types of systems is the fact that you can act immediately without having to physically be in touch with the receiver.

All in all, wireless driveway alarms are a great security measure for anyone who owns a home and wants to protect themselves from unwanted visitors.  You can get a slew of features as well, depending on the type of alarm that you select.  You can install most alarms yourself, although the more advanced models will require professional installation.  The self installation types will come with instructions as well, so you won’t encounter any problems.Even if you’ve not at all used them – wireless driveway alarms will give you value for money as they will alert you everytime someone visits your property.
